Another looovely treasure box that I made from a salvaged box. I woodburned it and painted it and sold it! I can't believe how long I had this box and wanted to do something with it before I finally did this. I am very happy with how it turned out though, hopefully the person who bought it is happy too :)
This is not a new project. I actually already sold this piece on Etsy, but wanted to put it on here. I was really happy with how it came out and sold it so quick I didn't get to show it to anyone! I woodburned this piece onto a salvaged wooden platter from the 2nd hand store. I dyed it with homebrewed dyes made from turmeric and beet juice.

More graphic design - here is a promo package I put together for the Trio. I think it turned out nice and will hopefully get them some nice holiday gigs :)
Created this logo for my sister's trio that I am managing. Came up with a few ideas, but they liked this one the best. I have to agree it fits them very well; classy and fun at the same time.
Not really a high-end art project, but very fun and a seasonal project I enjoy. I don't like to carve pumpkins because it's so wasteful to let the delicious pumpkin flesh rot, unappreciated. I prefer to paint, then rinse, then carve up and turn into pie or cookies or muffins or....
Was able to finish the mural yesterday and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Lissi and Noah said they were happy with it too. I look forward to more opportunities to paint on walls and get more of my art in public places!
This mural took about 35 hours to complete including design and prep work.
If you like natural baby/child products, you can visit Lissi's cool store in person or online: www.sproutsoup.com
I am nearing completion on this mural, the grand opening for "Sprout Soup" is next thursday, Oct. 23 from 4-7pm if anyone would like to come and see and check out Lissi's awesome store. The address is: 4310 N. High Street. It's just south of Henderson between Clintonville and Worthington.
Got a lot done last night, had some good music playing and didn't have a little Stelly to try and keep occupied. Did the corn and potatoes and got the other veggie hills done. I also did some shadows in the garden.
Was able to work on the mural for quite a while on Friday. Got the sea of greens completed and the asparagus cattails - which, by the way are taller than me. Made me very hungry to be painting a six foot tall asparagus. A little garlic lemon butter and I would have been licking the wall!
Then, they liked it a lot so they asked if I could make it into a web ad. Which meant I had an excuse to color the illustration - which was great fun. I took it into photoshop and airbrushed it. Came out pretty nice :)
Today I did an illustration and an ad for WCBE that was particulary fun. Their fall fundraiser theme is "The Myths of Public Radio" so I did this illustration of Bigfoot, Nessie and an alien dancing to some great NPR music.
Dirt was the biggest solid block of color in the whole thing so wanted to get it done with. I'm enjoying how the leafy pond is looking so far. I'll go back on Friday for a long day of painting and get lots more done.
Did a little prep work on Wednesday to get the wall ready to paint, then pencilled in the mural. Lissi was nice enough to buy me some acrylic since I've had nightmares trying to work with latex (which is what she had already bought). I'm such a diva.
I'm supposed to be going in to sketch and paint tomorrow, so I wanted to work out some details on paper. I did this drawing with watercolor pencils and color pencils.
I pitched an idea to my friend Lissi for a mural that she wants in her store. She gave me a link for a very clean outlined landscape with flowers and trees and said she wanted it just like that but with vegetables. I loved the veggie landscape idea, but was having trouble with the clean outlined look... I'm more of a messy detailed painter myself! So, I sent her a quick sketch of what I had in mind for her mural.
Here is the box after I finished burning it. I'm very happy with the results so far and the box smells heavenly! Next I will paint it, then coat it with acrylic.
I am working on a project for a lady who got this wonderful cedar box in high school. It has water damage on top, but otherwise is in great condition. I'm going to woodburn and paint the top for her. She likes the ocean and waves and the color blue. I've begun free hand burning a design into the top and so far so good...
Ok, I've never blogged before, but I'm giving this a whirl because I really need some extra motivation to work on art projects! Hopefully sharing my inspirations, creations and frustrations will help keep me on track!
